Sea-view restaurants

A small selection of restaurants with views

Plate in front of you, sky above you, outstanding surroundings. Take a seat on the Breton coast, facing the open sea. You’ve finally got away from it all. Everywhere, the sea: infiltrating the menu, in the kitchen, dazzling the retina. Focus on 6 sea-salty hideaways that have caught our eye. Try them out… you’ll understand why!

In the blink of an eye

1. Ultramarine Rendezvou

Le Bélouga – Perros-Guirec

Take note: this isn’t your everyday hangout! Le Bélouga, king of the Granite Coast’s restaurants? And why not? A journey in itself whatever the case – one to set out on without ever losing sight of the sea. The view of Perros bay and the Sept-Iles archipelago, Rouzic in the lead, is simply sublime. Uncluttered Zen ambience – everything has just been refurbished. A magical setting and a festival of flavours: the gourmet cuisine is delicate and prepared from local produce: a shimmering John Dory from Erquy, for example, tinged with exoticism, just a hint … We’re melting!

2. Elegance on the horizon

Colette – Saint-Coulomb

To the west of Cancale, Colette awaits your coming. Much more than just a restaurant, Colette is an idyllic setting with a stylishly relaxing atmosphere. An unparalleled viewpoint over Pointe du Meinga and Besnard Island. And then there’s the warm, attentive welcome provided by Arthur and Mathilde and their team. Generous portions that give pride of place to local resources – special mention to the oysters and to the Paris-Saint-Coulomb for dessert…. Colette is a friendly spot presided over by the benign spirit of Mathilde’s grandmother. Absolutely worth trying out!

3. Suspended between land and sea

Le Bénétin – Saint-Malo

Between Saint-Malo and Cancale, hidden from prying eyes, a restaurant fashioned from wood and stone with a dining room that reaches out towards the sea. Le Bénétin is the ultimate in Saint Malo bistronomy. Its location overlooking the sculpted rocks, its sunsets, and its breathtaking views as far as the Chausey Islands are all to die for. The cuisine follows the seasons, the tides and the finest products. Total relaxation in front of a plate of in-shell abalone, grilled lobster with Kari Gosse sauce, a mille-feuille or the palet vanille… The herbs and flowers? Picked in the little garden next door. Facing the azure swell, a safe bet!

4. Cruise of flavours

L’Amiral – Saint-Malo

This would be an almost perfect evening, in the heart of Saint-Malo’s port, behind the ferry terminal. A unique view over the bay, 180° sea view: the city walls on one side and Dinard on the other. Understated yet warmly welcoming decoration. This would be a stylish, laid-back spot, impeccable service, an Admiral doubling as a top-of-the-range chef – fresh products arrive on your plate meticulously prepared… What do you say – wouldn’t this be your best discovery to date?

5. M as in Mémé

Mémé Lilia – Plouguerneau

Ask any Breton to direct you to one of their magical spots. Their favourite place when it comes to enjoying seasonal local cuisine facing the sea. This is where they’ll send you: to Lilia. A hamlet 25 minutes from Brest, at the entrance to the Abers. A white sandy beach to the west of the Ile Vierge, Kervenni. A terrace. Mémé Lilia is waiting for you there. On the menu? Tapas, ultra-fresh fish from the family fishery, cooked over a wood fire: well-crafted simplicity and top quality. From grandfather to son, thanks be to all you fishermen cooks!

6. Irresistible in Carnac…

L’Eskell – Carnac

Is it worth your while, this restaurant tucked away in the Diana Hotel & Spa? Definitely! First of all, L’Eskell, which means “wing” in Breton, is a location with unrestricted views of Quiberon beach and bay. Right by the water. And next to the lounge bar, it’s a gourmet restaurant tastefully decorated in Art Deco style. To officiate, two master restaurateurs, the chef and the pastry chef – on your plate, signature cuisine largely inspired by the sea, fresh seasonal products made the utmost of with real inventiveness. Perfect sommelier and service. An experience to give you wings!
