Landscapes that seem almost unreal
The Monts d’Arrée are a haven for nature-lovers. Rising from the largest area of heathland in Brittany (8,000 hectares), heather, gorse, peat bogs and rocky ridges stretch out as far as the eye can see. It’s even more lovely in summer when the colours seem to explode! Within the Armorica Regional Natural Park, this unspoilt, carefully conserved landscape offers impressive views over the surrounding countryside. Climb to the summit of Mont Saint-Michel de Brasparts. From the chapel there’s a panoramic view of Lake Brennilis. The region has a thousand other surprises, such as the Huelgoat boulder field. According to legend, the giant Gargantua, furious about the reception he’d had from the forest inhabitants, threw these rocks he found on his way! Also take a look at the parish enclosures, groups of religious buildings that are typical of the region.
