Have you always wanted to try a parachute jump but you’re not ready to freefall from a plane? At Cap Malo, in La Mézière, on the outskirts of Rennes, Airfly can turn your dream into a reality. This simulator, which is accessible to everyone, was designed by Mike Brooke, a former world-champion parachutist. It works by using a vertical stream of air driven at over 250 kilometres an hour inside a six-metre-high transparent tube. After a briefing and putting on the kit, you enter the tube with your instructor, who is an experienced parachutist. Once you’re in position, the jets, adjusted to your body mass, will hold you up safely. The cherry on the cake is that your freefall lasts twice as long as a tandem jump: it’s the equivalent for an adult of a jump from an altitude of 6000 metres! The unforgettable sensations will be even more exciting on your second jump. The instructor will then make a demonstration jump and present you with a freefall certificate. You can even take away a video of the event.
