Difficult to imagine a place more wild and less humdrum than the Hotel Ar Men Du, from whose windows the sea disappears over the horizon, punctuated with a few islets detached from the Isle of Raguenez. Its place at the 'end of the world' justifies its being a member of the ‘Relais du Silence’ and the Hotels de charme et de caractère’ groups. Once inside - a naval atmosphere with teak floors, marine style furniture and rooms with panoramic sea views, decorated in colours straight out of a Gauguin picture. For demanding palates, Pierre-Yves Roué, the passionate owner/chef recruited Patrick Le Guen, already with Michelin stars to his name, and his son Jean-Marie, to join the team. The result: a Michelin star, 3 chefs’ hats and a 'coup de coeur' (favourite) in the Gault & Millau guide, and cuisine using produce that has been selected from the best local producers.
