The fortress known as the Château du Taureau is located just as you leave Carantec in Plougasnou, and you can choose whatever kind of visit you like, be this a guided tour, a theatrical encounter or a singing or storytelling experience. There are thousands of ways to feel the magic of a place that was built to safeguard the Bay of Morlaix from English raiders. Exploring the Taureau is more than just another visit - this is a journey to the heart of History itself, and a tribute to the memories of a Bay area whose natural treasures are still intact. Meander around the place as you explore the bunkers on the terrace area, stroll along the passageways and have a look at the drawbridge. All visitors are free to roam around the three levels of the faithfully restored building. This year, the Château du Taureau has laid on a host of new things to do including picnic spots, historic visits and “pirates for little ones” activities. Those travelling by boat can still access the fortress on small boats.
