For the record, sardines are no stranger to the already long history of the Filets bleu de Concarneau. Conceived as a gesture of solidarity to help sailors hit by the sardine crisis, the little Finistère festival has gone from strength to strength, becoming an essential part of Breton tradition. People come to the festival out of curiosity, to watch the parades in a grand display of velvet, satin and lace. You'll be given the keys to Breton wrestling, take the first step in a Celtic dance circle or try your hand at shuffleboard. And you'll inevitably leave with an extra Breton soul. What time is it, Madame Sardine? It's time for the binious and bombardes to sound the call for the big Filets bleus gathering.
